Another Gerbera from my Mother’s Day Bouquet – this one without any artistic droopy bits. And this is my entry today for Cee’s Flower of the Day (FOTD). Thanks for visiting!!
Oh look! More of the pesky pink tulips! Obviously I had a blast shooting these in a variety of set ups . . . one thing I have noticed, this picture in particular is great in colour or black & white, BUT for some reason (probably the lack of distracting colour) I notice the light shining on the flowers much more when it’s in monochrome.
You might notice that my light is almost always to the right of the photo – That’s a window. My studio is actually my laundry room, in the basement, but it’s a daylight basement. The location was originally supposed to be a bathroom, but upon reflection, during construction, we decided that with 3 kids, having the laundry room in the mudroom off the garage was not going to work for us. So we moved the bathroom a few feet and popped the laundry room in. We didn’t change the frosted glass on the window, so I have naturally diffused light all the time. The countertop makes a lovely sturdy, waterproof location for photographing flowers. Or anything small.
Anyhow, I love how the light is hitting the tulips. Since it’s so pretty – this is today’s entry for Cee’s Flower of the Day challenge. Thanks for visiting!!
Did a little experiment today . . . I turned off the lights in my little studio and used my bounce flash for the first time in years! Using the new lens that arrived on Friday – this 100mm macro is SWEET!! And while I’m experimenting, I thought this would be a good time to try Cee Neuner’s Flower of the Day (FOTD) challenge, but I don’t know if it’s going to work. Having technical difficulties.
Thanks for visiting – hope you had a great weekend!
